Today I want to talk with you about Periscope. Periscope is a new social media tool that focuses on live streaming. That sounds fancy, but it’s just real time video.
You press a button, your followers know you are live and they watch.
It is hot, hot, hot right now and super easy.
It doesn’t matter if you run a strictly in person business or drive all your sales on line, finding ways to connect with customers is always important and social media serves that purpose.
Sharing samples on Pinterest, staying in touch via Facebook or teaching via tutorials on YouTube all have a place in your business regardless of whether you hold classes in your home or blog daily.
The more we share with our customers the more excited they are about our products.
Periscope is simply another tool to share and a great way to stay in front of your customers.
So I want to share 2 things with you today about Periscope and encourage you to give it a shot.
First, HERE is a full tutorial to get you started. I have looked all over for a clear, concise step by step and this is it.
The bigger question is: How do I use it?
Although there are some steps around it, the video is live for 24 hours and then it is gone. It isn’t content that is going to live forever. Which makes it perfect for a few things:
1. Product Reveal: This is a great opportunity to show your customers a new product via a live broadcast. Think of all the new products in the Occasions catalog and plan one for each. It is also a great way to get feedback on new products. You can ask them if they liked it, what they liked, etc and get instant feedback in the chat. Your audience can also tap on the screen to share their love, with a show of colored hearts. At the end of the day, we all just want to be loved. ♥
2. Catalog or Collection Launch: A new catalog or product launch is a great thing to share with your customers. Do a walk thru of the catalog, or a portion of it, and invite them to shop your online store or book a party! You could also easily combine a new catalog launch with tip #1 and reveal a new exclusive product. Only available from…YOU!
3. Opportunity Scope: Share 5 key reasons why everyone would love to be a Stampin’Up! demonstrator and invite your audience to ask questions in the chat. Close your scope with a call to action: type YES if you’re ready to get started or type a question mark if you need more information.
4. Training: Scoping is perfect for training your team and sharing how-to’s. Turn the camera on your computer screen to show slides or screen share, then back to you so your audience can see you live. The chat feature allows for questions and your team can share their love for your content with a heart party. And, did you know you can make your scope private? Click on the lock icon before tapping start broadcast and select the followers with whom you’d like to share your broadcast. Note: make sure everyone on your team is following you first.
Some folks have been hesitant to use Periscope as it only last 24 hrs.
But good news:
If you want to save and re-purpose your content click on “auto save broadcasts” in the settings and you’ll find your scope in your phone’s video gallery. Upload scopes to your Facebook biz page or groups, share on your YouTube channel and/or embed videos in a blog post. After you upload your scope, go back and delete it so the video doesn’t use up all your memory.
I love the idea of periscope right now because it is so new, and that makes it a great way to be seen and heard. I always love it when I find something that I don’t feel “behind” about or like I missed the boat.
This would be a great time to make a joke about boat and Periscope, but I’ve got nothing 😉
Give it a shot and feel free to reach out with any questions you may have!
xoxo
