Have you heard of the 80/20 rule when it comes to what you share on Social Media? I also like to call it the jab, jab, jab, jab, right hook method thatI picked up from Gary V in a training.

No one comes to Facebook or Instagram looking to be sold something. People don’t log onto either of these platforms and think “I can’t wait for someone to try and sell me something today!”

Instead they come looking for connection, inspiration, motivation, fun, distraction, and all those cat videos.

So when planning out your content to share on your favorite platform, think about “how can I give the people what they want?”

And that is where that 80/20 rule or the jab, jab, jab, jab, right hook idea comes into play.

Some easy steps to help you curate all the content that people will love

What are you passionate about it?

Can you share your dogs, your garden, your recipes, books you love. By sharing things important to you it helps your followers get to know you.

How do you want people to feel?

Do you want people to feel happy, inspired, relaxed, energized or empowered? Curate quotations, memes or articles that you can share to help your followers FEEL SOMETHING that you think is important.

What is your mission?

Do you want to spread creativity, help people eat healthier, get people moving, educate people on clean beauty or wine? Become THE person your followers can count on to get the best tips and info on your chosen topic.

And don’t ignore the human experience

Want to see one of my most popular Facebook posts?

This got shared 38 times from my profile. 38 times!

The silly, the easy, the fun….be the person who shares the things that other people want to share with their friends.

These 4 things help build your brand, create an experience, build the “know, like, trust” factor and are the 80% or jab, jab, jab, jab of your Social Media.

The other 20% or “right hook” that you post is your product with a call to action.

Great content isn’t something you throw up at the last minute because you know you shoot post something. It is purposeful, curated and focused on delivering what your followers want most.

I’d love to know what your followers get excited about when you share it! And where you get stuck in creating content.
