This is a tricky time for Stampin’Up! demonstrators as we say good bye to some products and have new products not yet available for customer purchase. Each demonstrator needs to decide for themselves how to handle the expectations of customers, the excitement of new product and the need to generate sales.
My way is not the ONLY way, but I thought I would give you a peek into how I roll this time of year.
RETIRING LIST
The first thing I do is pull out all of my retiring items and box them up. Done, gone, no more. I will eventually sell all of the non-consumables and package up the consumables for give aways and incentives.
I do not want to blog about these items or use them in classes. To me, the retiring list is a fabulous BONUS. Items are while supplies last, with many of them on sale. I don’t need to drive need for these products as it is inherent this time of year. Nor do I want to plan blog posts and events around them as it is simply to tricky to stay ahead of what is still available.
I have been telling my customers since the beginning of SaleABration to purchase what they want, as items are while supplies last and rarely do the popular items make it to the end of the catalog date.
NEW ITEMS
I buy everything from the Pre-Purchase in the new Stampin’Up! Annual Catalog I can as soon as it is available. The upside is that I can stamp and plan classes and blog posts out for a couple months. It gives me lots of time to plot and plan as well as build excitement for my customers and team.
CURRENT AND RETURNING ITEMS
A new catalog is typically only new for the first little bit until we see the Holiday Catalog. Then the “new” catalog becomes the ugly step sister and doesn’t see as much love as the Holiday, Occasions, and SaleABration catalogs.
This is the perfect time to stamp with all of those items from the Annual Catalog that got pushed out of the way in the hurry to always share what is new and fresh. I have even placed an order for a couple items that are returning in the 2017-2018 catalog that didn’t catch my eye the first time around.
The upside is that I now have a solid 4 months to share all the fun in the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog and be in a great position to embrace the Holiday Catalog when it is available.
This isn’t the only way to do it, but I have found it to be successful and an easy way to transition during what can be a tricky time!
